Green Close is a not-for-profit art and health organisation that has been working with communities across Lancashire since 1996.

We believe in the transformational power of art to change lives. We use creative processes to help people explore their personal identity, culture and heritage. We specialise in creating platforms of equality drawing together individuals, communities and organisations from the public, private and third sector to deliver projects where every person feels valued.

We are passionate about delivering high quality programmes of learning and always use our projects to make a real difference to people’s lives, extending their experience and understanding.

We use the arts to enable positive health and wellbeing, transform understanding of environmental and social issues and build stronger communities.

We embrace issue-based arts delivery because we want our work to make a real difference to the lives of others. We recognise that not everyone has had access to creative experiences, so we ensure high quality contemporary arts practice is embedded into every aspect of our work.

Working in partnership

Since 2021 we have been leading a partnership social prescribing programme called Phoenix Rising. Working in partnership with others to deliver a wellbeing programme which has art, nature, movement and heritage at its core has been a real priviledge.

Understanding the impact of our work is vitally important to us. We are currently working with researchers from Lancaster University on an AHRC funded proragmme Phoenix Takes Flight which is researching the barriers and opportunities to social prescribing programmes such as ours.
