The idea
Project Grow is set to revitalise Kingsholm Primary's outdoor space into a thriving classroom, offering hands-on learning centred on food production and nature-based wellbeing.
Starting in April, the initiative will conduct two weekly outdoor learning sessions, targeting pupils in one of the UK's most deprived areas. By immersing children in activities that enhance motor skills, creativity, and emotional development, the project addresses social challenges and limited enrichment opportunities faced by many disadvantaged students. This unique educational approach connects classroom lessons with the natural world, fostering a deeper understanding of sustainability, exploration, and the importance of good food.
