More about our impact
The environment
Our Commitment to Sustainability From the outset, our project was designed not just to improve play opportunities but also to create a lasting positive impact on the environment. We’ve kept sustainability at the heart of every decision: Eco-friendly materials – By partnering with Touchwood, we’ve ensured that any new structures or repairs use sustainably sourced timber and low-impact materials, reducing our environmental footprint. Resource conservation – We’ve worked with suppliers who prioritise minimal waste, recycling materials where possible, and using efficient methods of construction and installation. Connection with nature – Our focus on outdoor, imaginative play encourages children to engage directly with the natural world. This hands-on experience helps build early awareness of the environment and fosters respect for biodiversity. Blending with surroundings – The design of our play spaces works with the natural landscape, avoiding unnecessary artificial infrastructure and maintaining habitats that support local wildlife. Future-facing initiatives – We are exploring ways to integrate green solutions such as rainwater harvesting and solar energy into our facilities, ensuring that our project not only delivers now but contributes to long-term sustainability. By weaving these principles into our project, we’re creating spaces that inspire play, protect the environment, and encourage children to grow up with a sense of responsibility for the world around them.
The local economy
Our project has helped the local economy by drawing families to the Cotswolds who not only visit Mini Mudders but also spend in nearby cafés, shops, and accommodation. By working with local partners such as Out Hounds and Touchwood, we’ve supported local jobs and showcased sustainable, eco-friendly practices. Families are choosing to stay longer and return more often, which boosts tourism and creates a ripple effect of spending in the wider community.
Volunteering, jobs & education
Our project created opportunities for local people to get involved through volunteering and supporting sessions, while also providing paid roles for qualified forest school leaders. We’ve encouraged skills development in outdoor education and inspired families to learn more about nature, sustainability, and child-led play.
Arts, culture & heritage
Our project supports arts, culture, and heritage by celebrating traditional outdoor play, encouraging creative storytelling, role-play, and imaginative activities that connect children with local history and rural traditions.
Activity, health and leisure
Our project promotes activity, health, and leisure by encouraging children to play outdoors, explore nature, and engage in physical, imaginative, and sensory activities that support wellbeing and healthy development.
