The idea
We believe all children have the right to be in nature to feel better. We do this by encouraging children and families to connect with the nature on their doorstep. We want to offer free Engage Nature training sessions to adults that work with children in the Liverpool City region such as school staff, nursery staff. The best way for us to do this is by working with adults that work with children so that we provide a toolkit of ideas on how to green up their space that they can take back to their school, nursery, play group on how to create amazing greenspaces in their setting and get more kids in to nature. We will look at growing and using nature for learning. We want more schools, nurseries and children's group to be able to spend time outdoors to learn and feel good.
What we'll deliver
- train 20 adults in Engage nature sessions
Why it's a great idea
More children will access nature and connect and care for greenspaces.
Long term change as adults will learn ideas to support children in accessing and learning about nature.
Adults that work with children gain new skills in engaging children with nature.
Children feel better by spending time in nature.
Local community can connect with greenspaces and spend time in their local greenspace instead of traveling out of the area.
Local greenspaces are improved for nature such as schools and nurseries.
Steps to get it done
- we will recruit 20 adults on to our nature play course
- 20 adults will take part in the training course
- if each adult works commits to working with 20 children then that is 400 children accessing nature
This project will take place at Park farm community centre in St Helens.
