We aim to provide extra facilities to attract children and young people to the Lido and encourage them to exercise in a fun and healthy way. We want to promote interaction with the community and offer the chance to participate in team games and individual play. As a Charitable organisation this would enable us to make the Lido more sustainable by providing activities on a regular basis and also on cooler days when people are less likely to swim. This will help to increase footfall and takings on these days. We wish to raise funds for a colourful, inflatable approx 2.1m x 15.24m which will be anchored and sit on the surface of the main pool and can be packed away when not in use, allowing swimmers to freely use the pool. We also need to purchase a storage facility for the inflatable as part of this project to protect and preserve it.

Why it's a great idea:

This will provide a fun and safe way for children and young people to come to the Lido and participate in games and activities which will bring the community together. We conducted a survey in 2017 among the community and this inflatable was often requested. Younger members of the community will be able to use the Lido on more days than they do now. Regular sessions and team games will be organised and encourage youngsters to build confidence. The inflatable will assist us in maintaining a sustainable number of users during the summer ensuring that we can keep the Lido open for generations to come.

We are aware that people are travelling from far and wide to visit the Lido and this is improving trading activity within the town . Having this new facility will help to continue this trend.
