Our project runs for 6 weeks, each week we will run a workshop aimed at inspiring and educating families to improve their health through better understanding of how the foods we eat impact our health. Some weeks will be creative play with food, creating edible masterpieces for everyone to feast on once finished, while others will be more cookery based, showing families how to make easy, nourishing meals that will please the whole family! Each week we will delve a little deeper into the science of the gut microbiome, giving parents and their children a greater understanding of what and why certain foods are great for us, and why certain types of other foods are not. We will see groups of 30 people per session, for an hour per workshop, and we will run two during the day. These will be held in Hoole, Chester.

What we'll deliver:

  • 6 weeks of creative, educational, food based workshops for 60 people (20-24 families)

Why it's a great idea:

Over the last decade, we have educated and inspired tens of thousands of children over the North West to fall in love with nourishing foods through creative play with food. Unfortunately, the missing link has been the parents. We know the impact of families working together would have, not just on the child, but the whole families health and well being. We have transformed children's attitudes towards healthy food through fun, its now time we got the parents involved so this learning can continue at home! Families will have exposure to over 70 different foods, to create edible art with in a non pressurised, fun, environment. We will educate families on their gut microbiome and the impact this has on their physical and mental health. And empower them with the knowledge of how different foods can affect our mood and health.

Steps to get it done:

  • Engaging with families interested in the project
  • Securing dates with the community centre for the workshops
  • Delivering the 6 week project
  • Following up the project to asses impact
