Opening Doors: Inclusive Cricket at Church CC

We're building inclusivity with new Women’s and Disability teams, breaking barriers like cost, and creating a welcoming club space for all players and the community.

The idea

This isn’t just about cricket.

It’s about:

Confidence for young women stepping onto the pitch
Opportunity for players who haven’t previously had a pathway
A club that reflects the whole community
A future built on inclusion

We’re not just adding teams.
We’re changing who gets to play.

1. Launch Two Brand-New Inclusive Teams

- A fully supported Women’s team
- A dedicated Disability team
- With proper kit, structured coaching, and competitive fixtures from day one.

2. Break Down Barriers to Playing

We’ll fund:

- Specialist coaching
- Accessible equipment
- Subsidised playing kit
- Community outreach to attract new players

No one should miss out because of cost or lack of opportunity.

3. Transform Our Club Environment

We’re re-cladding two buildings in cedar to create a warmer, more welcoming space that reflects the inclusive future we’re building.

First impressions matter.
When new players arrive, we want them to feel proud, excited — and at home.

What we'll deliver

  • Launch Two Inclusive Teams
  • Remove Barriers to Participation
  • Create a Welcoming Club Environment

Why it's a great idea

This project will expand opportunity, improve wellbeing and make our club genuinely inclusive.

Our new Disability team will provide structured coaching, adapted equipment and competitive fixtures, reducing isolation and building confidence, independence and teamwork skills. Inclusive participation strengthens the whole club by normalising diversity and widening community engagement.

Our first Women’s team directly addresses the teenage drop-off in girls’ sport by creating a clear pathway into adult cricket. Female-focused coaching, visible role models and proper kit will help girls stay active, build resilience and grow in confidence.

We will subsidise equipment to remove financial barriers and actively recruit new participants.

Re-cladding our buildings is essential, not cosmetic. A welcoming, modern environment signals belonging, supports retention and ensures our facilities reflect the inclusive future we are building.

Steps to get it done
