The idea
Not every child has the same opportunities, especially those with SEND. They didn’t choose their challenges, and often can’t change them. But we can - by showing up, removing barriers, and giving them a chance to move, play, and grow with confidence.
At GymnaX, we run structured, movement-based classes for children of all abilities - but we want to go further. This project will fund a specially equipped Inclusion Van: a mobile gymnastics hub with mats, beams, trampettes, and more. It will deliver safe, adapted movement sessions directly to children in schools and centres that otherwise miss out.
On weekday mornings, the van will reach places where children with SEND have little or no access to PE or sports clubs. Our trained coaches will bring not just equipment, but joy, confidence, and inclusion.
This project is deeply personal - shaped by lived experience - and it’s my next step in making movement truly accessible to all.
What we'll deliver
- Convert a van into a mobile, fully equipped GymnaX Inclusion Vehicle
- Provide weekly adapted gymnastics sessions at 10+ schools and SEND centres
- Train inclusive coaches and create volunteering opportunities in the community
- Bring safe, joyful movement to children with SEND across West Sussex
Why it's a great idea
The GymnaX Inclusion Van will open the door to gymnastics for children who are often excluded due to disability, anxiety, or lack of access. These sessions will build physical literacy, confidence, and emotional wellbeing.
Benefits include:
- Increased physical activity for SEND children who are currently inactive
- Support for schools and SEND units without gym space or equipment
- Early-morning sessions supporting routine and calm for children who struggle with transitions
- Reduced social isolation and improved self-esteem
- Exposure to movement in a non-judgemental, child-led environment
- Creation of local volunteer and assistant coach opportunities
By making movement mobile, inclusive, and fun, we aim to level the playing field - so that every child, no matter their ability or background, can experience the power of movement.
Steps to get it done
- Purchase and customise the Inclusion Van with accessible equipment and branding
- Deliver pilot sessions at 3–5 local schools and SEND units to refine the programme
- Launch weekly Inclusion Van visits to schools and centres across West Sussex
- Collect feedback, evaluate impact, and adjust sessions to meet local needs
