More about our impact
The environment
Our activities kept local SEND children active in one setting.
The local economy
The workshops also helped to support working parents and for those that stayed on, it was a shared experience of seeing their children learn and shine. Some children attending for the first time are also keen to join up for regular classes which is good for longer term activity habits, the parents and Synergy Dance Outreach, as a charity. We also create jobs for teachers and all those who are involved in supporting these workshops both behind the scenes and via our inspiring dance teachers. Many children and young people with disabilities or SEN are keen to do more of our fun and calming routines really improving fitness and wellbeing.
Arts, culture & heritage
One particular “take home” finding was that learning Musical Theatre routines were very popular with the SEND families, and children liked to try activities that emulated adult creative dances. They have never had the opportunity to do this before and it felt like a treat!
Activity, health and leisure
The children's mental health and physical activities were both enhanced, in a safe and relaxed environment that supported well-being. We practiced a new routine several times and then performed the routine at the end of the session.
