The idea
Inchicore for All are a voluntary group working to foster integration in the local area following the opening of an IPAS accommodation centre in December 2023. Our project involves funding a family day out to a local attraction which would be open to all in the community regardless of whether or not they are in the IPAS system. The goal is for everyone to have a fun day out, get to know their neighbours and make new friends! We are hoping to cover transport, admission and a picnic lunch for all who wish to attend.
What we'll deliver
- Bus hire/transport
- Admission to attraction
- Picnic lunch purchased from local small business
- Support integration and inclusion
- Strengthen local community
Why it's a great idea
Our project will provide a fun day out for families in the local community. It will help to strengthen the sense of community and foster integration between new and old residents of the area. We believe that strong communities can help to protect us against the sort of senseless and racist violence that has been seen in other parts of the country and make Inchicore a safe and welcoming place for all to live.
Steps to get it done
- Secure funding
- Research and book activity or amenity to visit
- Book transport
- Order food and drinks
- Advertise and circulate sign up sheet
- Enjoy!
We have run a similar programme previously which involved a trip to Donabate beach and Newbridge House. This was attended by families from the local IPAS centre, other Inchicore For All members and members of CORE youth services young mothers group. It proved extremely popular and we have received feedback from the community that they would love more events like this.
