Improv, or improvisation, is the art of spontaneously acting and reacting to the other actor or actors in the moment to create comedy or theatre from scratch.
We want to inspire the people of Church Street Ward to draw on their creativity, be spontaneous and develop their life skills. We want them to meet new people, neighbours they haven’t met so far, shopkeepers they haven’t spoken to, businesses and services they haven’t tried yet.
We want to show people what they can do if they try something new.
We want to start new conversations in the community & energize the people in it through creativity.
No previous experience is required. The beauty of improv is that participants don’t have to be trained, be clever, or naturally funny. The main thing is to be present in the moment and to listen to the other participants. Comedy, theatre and entertainment happen as a side effect of collaboration and spontaneity.
