Tarleton Cricket Club is a Community Amateur Sports Club. It has grown from providing cricket facilities for mainly men into an organisation that is used by all sections of the local community. We provide activities for children from age 5 upwards. The last four years has seen the formation of a thriving women and girls section. The club also maintains its four regular senior cricket teams and these now regularly have women players. The additional use of the ground for hard ball, soft ball, kwik cricket, coaching and sports camps have taken their toll. The club has taken the decision to completely renovate the playing surfaces to enable further growth in numbers and to maintain a high standard for current activity. They are in the region of 50 years old and are extremely tired. The increased usage has degraded them further despite the best efforts of the volunteer groundsman. We are looking to improve the pitch to continue providing a great facility for all our teams.

What we'll deliver:

  • Continued junior, womens & senior cricket in high standard facilities
  • On-going growth in junior and womens participation in sport
  • A community facility that welcomes participants with a range of abilities
  • Facilities that are used by community organisations such as schools, clubs etc
  • Facilities that welcome families, friends, supporters of participents
  • Facilities that can be used in all weathers

Why it's a great idea:

Our aim is to make TCC a vital part of community life. Cricket can be played or enjoyed by people of all backgrounds, ages and abilities. Our facilities are open to all and promote involvement and the opportunity to participate in numerous voluntary roles. Whilst our main function is to provide cricket the ground will also be the venue for large and small village events. We often partner with the Parish Council and football club for these. An example being the village "It's a Knockout" event that attracts around a thousand participants and spectators.

Steps to get it done:

  • Purchase of materials
  • Production of project plan with timetable
  • Volunteer rota to complete
  • Facilities fit to host events
