The idea
More than just a parade, this project delivers a programme of creative workshops which enables young people from across the district, who may not otherwise get the opportunity, to work with professional artists, learn new creative skills and showcase their artwork as part of a major community event.
WHAT YOU'RE FUNDING: We want the parade to have an endpoint worthy of their creations! A place to exhibit some of their models, and to offer creative activities for you and your family to have a go at.
In 2019 we filled our marquee with creative exploration, experiences and fun projects, including paining at an easel, mask and headband making, and collaborative community artworks.
We're seeking funding for the parade itself from sponsors and grants, but we need your help to fund the marquee and its creative activities. If we don't succeed in raising the funds to deliver the parade, the marquee will still go ahead for our community to enjoy!
What we'll deliver
- Creative Activities
- A Community Event
- Volunteer Opportunities
- Vocational Experience Opportunities
- Local Employment
Why it's a great idea
Horsham loved the 2019 parade, here's what they said:
“Brilliantly organised and so much fun to watch.” “So proud it happened in Horsham.” “It was such a lovely thing to see, joyful and colourful, infectious.” “It was amazing to see so many children taking part with all their brilliant artwork”, “Brilliant sense of community".
And the creative activity in the marquee: "I loved making the selfie frame", 100/100 for arty tent!", "Kids had fun, so did I", "Lovely for kids to do - 5/5", "We really do need more places in Horsham to do Arts & Crafts for kids", "Really good creative fun".
But don't take their word for it...you'll be able to pop along and have a go yourself if we reach our target!
