A huge thank you to Claire Hopkins for our latest pledge, we’re now at almost £400. Work continues at the Centre to move us that little bit closer to getting the doors open to the public. Lots of grass cutting to tame the 2 foot high grass forest, and some running repairs to barge boards at the front of the building which have seen better days. Please keep helping us spread the word about this wonderful project and our fundraising campaign, so many people could benefit. Tell all your friends, family and work colleagues 👍

We are a Parish Council for the small village of Hightown on the Sefton coast, approximately 2 miles from Formby. The Parish Council was established in 2000 and consists of 7 voluntary councillors elected for a 4 year term. We are financed by a small precept levied on all residential properties in the village, and also apply for grant funding to undertake activities not part of our statutory duties for the benefit of the community. Our main ambition is to redefine the community spirit that has existed in years gone by, and to strengthen "connections" across all areas of the community, from the young to the old, from the fit and able to those suffering from disabilities and/or long term conditions. We already run a small annual festival (The Hightown Festival) which has helped pull the community together, but the feedback from residents continues to be that the village is also lacking a comfortable and flexible meeting space, and somewhere where friends and clubs/groups can come together over a hot drink and light snacks and food. Recently the Parish Council were given the opportunity to take over a former Sefton Council building on the edge of the River Alt, close to the village centre, with a view to estbalishing a dedicated community hub. Refurbishing the buidling is now our main focus of activity, and a short term priority is to establish a community cafe and community garden which will also supply some of the produce used in the cafe.
