More about our impact

More about our impact

The environment

The environment

We had very little waste on the site. People brought their own food and drink or went to local cafes.

The local economy

The local economy

Because there were no food or drink outlets on the site people spent money in the town. This stimulated visitor numbers and the local economy. The local traders, including the Hexham Farmers' market, had increased income on Saturday.

Volunteering, jobs & education

Volunteering, jobs & education

We had a number of new volunteers this year and we are building on their involvement.

Arts, culture & heritage

Arts, culture & heritage

Arts and culture is at the heart of the festival and the range of music and workshops that was on offer reflects this.

Activity, health and leisure

Activity, health and leisure

The festival brought a diverse range of people together for mutual enjoyment and benefit. It is always held primarily in a public space, the Sele, in the heart of the town with no barriers to attending. There were 3 days of music to listen to and to participate in. As well as professional musicians performing there were many amateur musicians who attend and share their passion for music and Bluegrass. There was dancing and singing and playing throughout the festival.
