The idea
Henna Party is a vibrant musical exploring marriage, menopause & memory loss through three generations of South Asian women. Set on a hen night, it blends Gujarati & Punjabi folk music with humour, love & tradition. We will be working with 5 care homes & families affected by dementia.
Women’s experiences: ageing, dementia & shifting roles are often overlooked. As beauty fades & menopause sets in, older women become invisible, their voices unheard. This work gives them space to be seen & celebrated, highlighting resilience, identity & intergenerational bonds. When one grandmother shows signs of dementia, the women confront their past & future, creating space for laughter, reflection & solidarity.
More than entertainment, this show sparks vital conversations, breaking taboos around women’s health & ageing while uniting communities. Through music & storytelling, Henna Party fosters cultural pride, connection & a deeper understanding of the challenges & joys South Asian women face today.
