The idea
Ashy’s Cricket Academy is developing an inclusive community cricket facility for children, young and elderly people, all from different backgrounds and abilities. The facility is designed and encourages all to play indoor cricket, providing a positive, structured activity that helps develop physical fitness, coordination and resiliency, building teamwork and discipline. The facilities will be open all year round which will be available to children, cricket clubs, schools, youth groups, disabled participants and the wider Preston community. Since there is a limited indoor facility, there will be six lanes to allow more participants to play and train at the same time, reducing access and increasing waiting times.
What we'll deliver
- Opening of the first indoor charity cricket academy
- Welcoming safe environment where children can use the facilities
- Public having access to play cricket all year round
- SEND programmes so schools can access an inclusive cricket facility
- Wheelchair users having year-round access to a cricket facility
- Affordable cricket coaching for children from deprived areas
