We want to interview local business owners and display their photos and stories in their shop windows to attract more footfall. We also want to make our WhatsApp newsletter free for 1 year in NW5.
Imagine if Kentish Town High Street was turned into a permanent outdoor art exhibition of independent businesses! Every business on Kentish Town Road has a unique story and we want to tell that story in a physical and impactful way to help them attract more customers. For 20 Kentish Town Road independent businesses, we will: * Conduct interviews and take professional portrait photos * Create large window stickers with the content in their shop windows for physical audiences * Display a QR code to read the full interviews online Project cost: £10,000 (20 X £500 of labour and materials: interviewing, photographs, window display stickers) -------- Also, we'll make our much loved weekly WhatsApp NW5 newsletter free again for 1 year. Project cost: £7,800 (52 weeks X £150 labour costs of sourcing content, writing, publishing, marketing) Check out kentishtownspot.com for more info on our WhatsApp newsletter!
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Residents of Kentish Town will feel more connected to where they live. They'll be more inclined to live locally and participate more in the local economy because they will feel a greater affinity to where they live by reading the local business stories. See an example of a local business story here: https://www.instagram.com/p/CUK8-lsoXfI/ Also, residents will improve their local knowledge with the WhatsApp newsletter and never miss out on the best things happening in the area. This project already works on a small scale (for the past 2 years) and is proved by qualitative data received from paid subscribers. See the video testimonials on https://kentishtownspot.com Furthermore, approximately 50 people pay £1.27 a week for the WhatsApp newsletter already so it shows that it already provides them with social value benefits!!!

Hello kind backers, Apologies that our updates have been sporadic, but this is a good one, I promise! With your pledges we launched the Town Spot Presents exhibition 2 months ago in Kentish Town on 15th July with great success. The exhibition has 5 weeks left so there's still plenty of time to go see it if you can. Here's a feature in Kentishtowner with some images if you want a preview: https://www.kentishtowner.co.uk/2022/07/12/kentish-town-spot-new-outdoor-art-exhibition-across-18-stores/ We plan to do a full social impact report after the exhibition ends mid-October, but here are the numbers so far: 4,358 map views - we created a route map to guide people: www.ktspot.cc/business-map 146 QR code scans - to read full article about each business, see articles: https://www.kentishtownspot.com/local-spots 56 new WhatsApp newsletter subscribers, sign up here: https://www.kentishtownspot.com/ I'm most pleased about the number QR code scans as this demonstrate real interest from the public. It's usually difficult to get people to interact, nevermind scan anything in a shop window. In addition, we conducted a survey with the business owners 3 weeks after the installation. Here are some highlights from a very positive reaction: - Phoenicia Food Hall had around 30-40 people read the window display then go in to buy vegan baklava - Caliendo's Gelato had lots of people stopping to read then going into buy ice cream - Supreme Doner Kebab said when he saw the other window vinyls go up in other shops they felt more part of the high street - Matthew James Estate agents have had a noticeable difference in the number of walk-ins Thanks again for all your pledges. You've helped make a real difference in Kentish Town to these businesses and the community. Also, thanks to Olivia and Kish who worked tirelessly with me toward the production of the exhibition. Best, Mike Gyi Founder at Town Spot
