Imagine a place where laughter echoes, music fills the air, and the aroma of delicious food mingles with the warmth of community. That is what you'll find when you visit Blue Flamingo. And it's a lifeline for those battling loneliness and isolation, especially those touched by dementia.
Founded in 2021 by Erin Singleton, Blue Flamingo was born from a deeply personal experience. Caring for a loved one with dementia opened Erin's eyes to the immense challenges faced by both those living with the condition and their devoted carers. She knew there had to be a better way, a place of refuge and support. And so, Blue Flamingo took flight.
We're more than just a hub; we're a family. We offer a safe, inclusive space where people can connect through shared meals, joyful music, and engaging activities. But we're particularly passionate about supporting those living with dementia and their carers. We understand the unique struggles they face, the isolation that can creep in, and the desperate need for connection.
For carers, Blue Flamingo is a sanctuary. It's a place to share stories, offer advice, and find comfort in knowing they're not alone. It's a place where they can recharge and find a moment of respite amidst the often-demanding journey of caregiving. One visitor shared a truly heartwarming story: after attending one of our Drum & Sing sessions, they felt like they "got their dad back" for the first time in a long time. These precious moments, these glimmers of connection, are what fuel our passion.
Dementia is a formidable foe, casting a long shadow over individuals and families. The emotional toll on carers is immense, and finding appropriate support can feel like searching for a needle in a haystack. We strive to provide high-quality, meaningful support that truly makes a difference. The need is undeniable. In Lancashire alone, over 11,000 people are living with dementia, a number significantly higher than the national average. This stark statistic underscores the vital importance of our work.
But we can't do it alone! We need your help to keep the Blue Flamingo soaring. Your generous contribution will allow us to expand our programs, reach more families, and continue creating those precious moments of joy and connection. Join us in building a community where no one feels alone and support is always within reach. Please, donate today and be a part of something truly special.
