Why it's a great idea
Hyndburn faces some serious health challenges:
Obesity – 67% of adults are overweight or obese (above the national average of 63%).
Type 2 Diabetes – 7.7% of residents have diabetes, compared to 6.9% nationally.
Cardiovascular Disease – High rates of heart disease linked to lifestyle factors.
Fast Food Outlets – 25% more than the national average, making healthy eating harder and a contributor to all of the above health issues
Deprivation – Hyndburn ranks in the worst 20% of UK boroughs for deprivation, with 38% of children living in poverty
H3 is about education, inspiration, and action. We want to:
Make healthy living exciting and accessible for everyone.
Raise awareness of obesity, diabetes, and heart disease – and how to prevent them.
Encourage physical activity in fun, inclusive ways.
Promote healthy eating and challenge the dominance of fast food.
Signpost local support services so people know where to get help.
