Creating amazing places for all people to live, work and visit
Many people would love to learn to play an instrument but the initial costs of purchasing, having a place to practice and paying for lessons , can prevent some people being able to pursue this. By providing free guitar lessons to local people within the new Mayfair Community Space, those people who have not had the opportunity to learn an instrument, or would like to pick it up again, can do so without the normal constraints around cost and access to instruments. Instruments will be provided free of charge by London Guitar Studio.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
We want to make music lessons more accessible and give people the opportunity to experience the joy that learning an instrument can bring. Music provision in schools is constantly under threat and issues around mental health are growing due in part to the pressures of modern life. The need for people to be able to express themselves has never been greater and learning an instrument is a great outlet. Who knows, we might even find the next Eric Clapton!
Steps to get it done:
The group guitar lessons will be held in the Mayfair Community Space, which is downstairs in the newly opened Mercato Mayfair in North Audley Street, W1K 6ZA. The Mayfair Community Space is managed by Mercato Mayfair (MM), the sustainable community market, with a proven track record of working with local communities. In partnership with the building owner, Grosvenor, and representatives from local businesses and residents, the Community Space has been developed to create a new ‘village hall’ for the area. The dates of the lessons are to be confirmed. If you are interested in taking part in these lessons please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
