The idea

Grove is a small tennis club, established over 100 years ago, comprising 3 “tired & recycled” outdoor clay /shale courts and a patched up wooden pavilion built on land designated for sports and leisure use for the local community.

We need do a few things to make our club attractive again and have it accessible for our local community and their families to enjoy together.

We have a team of willing volunteers who would welcome financial help to buy materials and some tools to get this club back to its former glory - like it was over 100 years ago!

The club house & grounds have certainly seen better days, and despite the fun & friendly values we hold.... its now looking tired and things have stopped working!

What we'll deliver

  • Smart, re-freshed and maintained clubhouse
  • Courts fences with new supports and repaired holes
  • Inviting appearance that looks open and welcoming to everyone

Why it's a great idea

SOCIAL SUPPORT AND COMMUNITY We know that tennis can literally change peoples’ lives, providing a safe place to mix, hanging out with people who care, making new friends and helping to build the confidence of many young people who need both support, and encouragement to do well.

The opportunity to be outdoors and running around (trying to hit a ball!) are often taken for granted – Grove is a club that’s committed to serving people, many with social challenges, with our action plan to help develop the mental & physical well-being of those finding it hard to open social doors and engage their true worth & sense of purpose. Our membership is totally inclusive, made up of all backgrounds and ethnicities.

We strive to appeal to all the local community, promoting comfortable surroundings to play sport together.

New members will help us grow funds to re-invest in the clubs future
Offering an alternative to those who don't feel comfortable with so called "fully accessible park tennis"

Steps to get it done

  • Club house renovations completed in time for Spring Re-Launch

The club is over 100 years old and almost closed during COVID times, when membership dropped away and people weren't allowed to mix.

We are keen to protect the clubs future, so the local community and our future generations can enjoy it for another century
