Green wheel support for PDVC
The purchase of an electric multi person vehicle (MPV) to transport groups of people to community activities ( lunch club) and maximise the services of our voluntary drivers reducing social isolation
About the Project Creator
Bishampton, Throckmorton and Tilesford parish lies between Pershore, Evesham and Worcester. Currently, there are approximately 300 homes, of mixed style constructed from the 1600s to contemporary builds. St James’ Church is situated in Bishampton and Throckmorton and Tilesford share the chapelry.
The Parish Council is unusual in that it owns The Dolphin public house, the Bishampton village shop and the flat above, on behalf of the community. The step of acquiring these properties was to protect them from being purchased for development and to protect these important community amenities for future generations. The council let the properties to private tenants to maintain the services to the community.
Bishampton, Throckmorton and Tilesford Parish Council is working with Pershore Plus Volunteeer Centre to secure funding for a new community connector. The funds once secured will sit with the Parish Council and the Volunteer Centre will operate and manage the connector service on behalf of the parish.
Pershore Plus Volunteer Centre puts volunteering at the heart of the community to reduce rural and social isolation for local people. The Centre has been operating for more than 30 years to improve the strength and well being of the community in and around Pershore. We deliver this through a combination of community transport, volunteering and other community services. The Volunteer Centre’s activities are overseen by a Board of Trustees
The activities undertaken to support Bishampton, Throckmorton and Tilesford Parish Council achieve its aim include:
- Providing a Community Transport Service for residents unable to use public transport.
- Liaison with statutory and voluntary organisations to identify needs in the area and link them to existing resources
- Working with local organisations to support in funding applications and project management.
- Pershore Plus Volunteer centre is a partner in Community Transport Worcestershire, a consortium of local Community Transport organisations who provide transport by car, minibus, MPV and accessible vehicles throughout Worcestershire. Our Community Transport Scheme covers Pershore and 46 villages and hamlets in South Wychavon area as shown on the map.
Pershore Plus Volunteer Centre has successfully supported Peopleton Parish Council to start up a community connector in 2019 and this project will extend the reach of community transport over the region.
