There would be two elements to the programme. i. Market days. There would be two open air market days on Sunday 7th May and Sunday 27th August. Both dates are during Bank Holiday weekends. Both markets will be located on the car park and lawn of the Commercial Hotel. ii. Marquee week. We aim to use crowdfunding to hire a marquee for a series of events on the Athletic Ground for erection on Wednesday July 5th and dismantling on Monday July 17th. Events: Friday July 7th: Luncheon with guest speaker-Rod Woodward. Saturday July 8th: Tribute night. Sunday July 9th: Activities and picnic day. Including Market inside the marquee between 10.00am-2.00pm. 10th-Sunday 16th: Marquee available for private use by other local community groups. Date to be confirmed: Gowerton's Got Talent final. Friday 14th July: Charity Race night in aid of Andrea Heffernan. Saturday 15th July: G.A.P cabaret night. Sunday 16th July (am): St. John's Service.

What we'll deliver:

  • Hire of Marquee including tables and chairs for 350.
  • Provide First Aid (4 days).
  • Hire Staging, Lighting and Sound System.
  • Produce a 'Gowerton Summer Fun' brochure.
  • Hire a generator.
  • Insurance cover for event equipment.
  • Publicity for the events
  • Hire Portable toilets.

Why it's a great idea:

The following four objectives: • organise a series of events over the summer that will allow all in our community to come together and as a result to strengthen and improve the social, emotional, physical, and mental wellbeing of those taking part. • to give all cohorts in our village community an opportunity to engage in creative and/or physical activities but also to create occasions with an environment that enables all to engage in social interaction and to benefit from the well-being that that creates. • to support local businesses by increasing footfall in the village that will increase trade on the days the events take place and as a result increase awareness of what our local businesses provide to increase their trade in the longer term. • to raise funds that can be used to support developments at the Athletic Ground and if appropriate in the wider community.

Steps to get it done:

  • Hire of Marquee including tables and chairs
  • Hire of Generator
  • Cover event equipment insurance:
  • Provide First Aid (4 days)
  • Produce a ‘Summer Fun’ brochure
  • Hire Lighting, Sound System and Staging for inside the marquee
  • Provide pre-event publicity
  • Hire portable toilets
