More about our impact
The environment
We aspire to be zero waste, we will not tolerate single use plastics, and all of our takeaway containers and coffee cups are fully compostable. We recycle our food waste, it's all taken away to be composted rather than sent to landfill
The local economy
During the pandemic, the focal point of the cafe as a community hub has become more evident as local people have supported us both with their custom and kindness on the limited time that we have been able to be open.
Volunteering, jobs & education
The Pandemic certainly put a few spanners in the works for our forecast but we are delighted with the training we achieved on the few intermittent times where we actually open since completing the reurbishment.
Arts, culture & heritage
We had a fantastic poetry and magic fundraising evening in the summer which featured local poets and a Brixton magician!
Activity, health and leisure
Our trainees, many with learning disabilities and/or difficulties, have got a bad deal during the pandemic. Being able to offer opportunity of training in hospitality has had the added benefit of promoting mental wellbeing
