Good Food Catford
I want to create a community-centered grocery store & deli focusing on local, seasonal foods and basic goods, breathing a new lease of life into our once vibrant shopping parades.
About the Project Creator
I am Vicky Skingley, a registered Nutritional Therapist with a passion for good, seasonal and local food. Previous experience in the retail and catering sectors as well as extensive Project Management have given me the necessary skills to deliver the project.
I am the Director of ‘Good Food’ and we believe that good nutrition should be accessible to all no matter what your budget. As a community grocery, we will sell local produce including surplus vegetables grown in community gardens and allotments. As such, prices will reflect the community focus.
I will provide unbiased relevant healthy eating and lifestyle advice to customers. It is our intention, within the first year, to run community workshops on healthy eating, menu planning and practical classes on bread making. Additionally, we will host seasonal supper clubs, showcasing our produce and allow the space to be used for community events.
I love where we live, but when I moved recently I noticed that there are too many boarded up shops, shops converted into flats and tired looking shopping streets. We need to breath a new lease of life into the once vibrant shopping parades and create a vibrant community hub that offers quality produce with a personal touch. To lead this change and with the support of the Residents Association and Lewisham council my dream is to create a neighborhood-centered grocery store & deli focusing on local, seasonal foods and basic goods.
