Glyndon Youth Project

We are planning to open a youth club in Glyndon Community Centre that will be open 3 days per week and free to all local young people.

Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.

The idea

We are looking to open a full time youth club/hub on the Glyndon Estate in Plumstead.

The centre will be available for all young people within the area and will provide not only a safe place for them to attend but also training and life skills that will aid them in becoming the best that they can be.

To be able to achieve this we need the support of the local community already they have voiced a desire to run the club but we now also need the funding to be able to do this.

We believe that running such a club will not only work towards building community cohesion but will also be an aid in combating knife crime and gang culture.

We will run various projects from the club including our Bicycle Recycling Program, Music Program, Boxing Program, Gym Instruction and Many more. All our programs are accredited and the young people who attend will receive AQA Qualifications.

We also work very closely with other community projects in the area and Greenwich Council.

What we'll deliver

  • Youth Club
  • Community Cohesion
  • Training and Education
  • Safe area
  • Advice and Guidance
  • Sports

Why it's a great idea

Due to government cuts we have many youth centres/clubs/hubs closed and no where for the young people to attend or get advice or guidance and because of this we have seen a breakdown in Community cohesion and a rise in crime and youth offending.

We believe this is one of the main causes of the current issues our young people and community face today.

We aim to combat this and in partnership with the whole community open and run a Youth Club/Hub in the heart of the community. This will involve not just the young people who attend but also the parents who will both have a say and direction of how the club will run.

This club is needed and we will succeed in opening it.

Steps to get it done

  • Opening the centre one night per week
  • Buying new equipment
  • Working in partnership with the Local Community
