The Bamford Community Society exists to: “Develop a sustainable community business that is inclusive, with a reputation for good customer service, that contributes to a vibrant and thriving village.”
In November 2013 the Society brought the Anglers Rest into community ownership and now operates this as a Community Hub for the village, housing:
- A welcoming village pub, the last remaining in the village
- The Rest Cafe which is open during the day
- A retail space selling local produce, gifts and cards
- The village Post Office which was also threatened with closure
- A range of other community services such as book swap, dry cleaning service, village car parking and secure bike parking.
The Society works in partnership with other community organisations and regularly hosts a 'Gig in the Pub' featuring local bands made up of young people from the Hope Valley area.
