Fun Filled Days was established as a CIC in 2018 and provides activities for adults with a learning disability in a fun and engaging way
Those activities include arts and crafts, cooking, interactive games, monthly outings and much more. Our overall aim is to combat isolation within this client group and to provide everyone with a fun and enjoyable experience. Our clients range from age 24 to 64
Covid 19 has left some of our clients feeling anxious and so we have recently developed a wellbeing project which includes Healthy Eating, Exercise, Self Care, Being Kind to Others, Being in Nature and Learning New Things. At our Balby base we have developed an outdoor space with the support of British Telecom and wish to use that space to plant vegetables and flowers which will encourage social interactions, exercise, learning new things and of course incorporate all the benefits of being outdoors in nature. We are just lacking outdoor furniture, planters and basic tools to get us started.
What we'll deliver:
- Purchase 2 bench tables, hand tools, watering cans and planters
Why it's a great idea:
We very much want to enjoy our outdor space and make full use of it. Science suggests that :
Nature boosts your mood
Nature reduces stress
Nature connects you with others
Nature improves creativity and problem solving
Nature can protect against anxiety and depression
Nature is good for heart health
Nature gives you hope
Having an outdoor space also offers opportunities for developing a small vegetable patch where we can learn how to grow different plants, nurture our space and ultimately enjoy the 'fruits of our labours' during our popular healthy cook and eat sessions. Producing just some of our 'five a day' would give immense satisfaction.
After working in the garden it would be lovely to have a space to sit, reflect, connect and relax with friends.
Steps to get it done:
- Buying bench seats, plants, planters and simple hand tools. Developing a secure garden space for our clients
