Streetly Dementia Support Group CIC was founded in 2024 with one simple mission: No one should have to face Dementia alone. Born out of a deeply personal experience, I'm a Community Link volunteer and Dementia Friend ambassador registered with the Alzheimer’s Society, who understands the challenges of Dementia first hand. Having cared for my own father through his Dementia journey, I felt the profound emotional toll that comes with supporting a loved one. My mission was clear, to ensure no other family faces this struggle in isolation, and thus, the CIC was created.
As a Community Interest Company (CIC), every penny raised goes directly back into supporting local Dementia related initiatives. We are a non-profit organisation, driven by a commitment to provide vital resources and create a more Dementia-friendly community. Our services including FREE Dementia Friends sessions, printed resources, carer support groups, and outreach programs aim to ensure that everyone affected by Dementia, whether individuals, carers, or families, has access to the support they need.
But our work goes beyond simply offering services; we are committed to changing the culture around Dementia. Through signposting to local with local schools, businesses, organisations, and residents to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and foster a culture of compassion and understanding. Our goal is to create a supportive environment where families and carers can find connection, resources, and comfort.
At the heart of our work is a team of passionate volunteers, many of whom have lived experience with Dementia. They bring empathy, understanding, and a deep commitment to ensuring that no one is left behind. We aim to empower individuals and carers by connecting them to services, offering emotional support, and providing practical tools to improve their daily lives.
We are determined to build a sustainable network of care that will continue to benefit the community for years to come. Every donation, every hour volunteered, and every partnership formed helps us build a stronger, kinder community, one where every person, regardless of age or diagnosis, is treated with dignity and respect.
This movement is about love, loss, and hope, creating a future where Dementia is faced with compassion and community. With your support, we can continue to expand our reach, provide much-needed services, and ensure that no one faces Dementia alone.
