The idea
We are driven by a powerful purpose to create printed Dementia information packs that contain valuable resources and information on local events that will change lives of residents of Streetly, Walsall, and surrounding areas for those who aren’t online. In a time when so much support is just a click away, we refuse to leave behind those who can’t or don’t use technology. These information packs aren’t just paper and ink; they essential lifelines for individuals & families facing Dementia. These packs will provide accessible, local, and easy to understand information, offering vital help to those most vulnerable in our community. Many residents feel isolated and unsure where to turn. Too many feel helpless in their own homes but we’re determined to step up with action, bridging the digital divide to bring printed support to the people who need it. Additionally, FREE Dementia Friend sessions will be delivered across community, groups, companies & schools as part of our outreach drive
What we'll deliver
- Local, relevant Dementia support information. Including contacts for residents living with Dementia and and carers.
- Deliver Dementia Friend sessions across the entire Walsall Council community and create 100 new Dementia Friends.
- Local community outreach at local markets and community fates to hand out packs and chat to residents face-to-face.
Why it's a great idea
The packs will provide immediate, tangible benefits to residents in who are living with Dementia or supporting a loved one. They will provide essential local resources, support services, and practical guidance in a format that’s easy to understand. For many residents, this will be their first point of contact with the help they desperately need and deserve. By providing these printed resources, we will empower residents to better navigate Dementia care, ensuring they are informed and supported at every step. The packs will also reduce feelings of isolation, helping individuals and carers connect with local support groups and events, creating a stronger sense of community. This will also be a benefit to local businesses that offer Dementia friendly environments and groups. Our outreach drive will provide FREE Dementia Friend sessions and help families get a better understanding of Dementia and how they can make small but very effective changes in our communities. This direct benefit.
Steps to get it done
- Help 10 residents overcome social isolation by connecting them to activity group listed in our Dementia Resource info
- Create 50 new Dementia Friends through outreach
- Continue to support the community existing Dementia Groups, cafes by promoting them through information packs
- Through additional fundraising, help provide valuable resources to all communities Dementia Groups
