It has been a while since we shared an update, we have been busy on the farm preparing for the session which started last week. It was lovely to welcome everyone and see them engaging with the annals and helping to do the morning farm tasks. Last week, a team of staff from the Port of Dover kindly volunteered their time to support our work. We're in the process of developing new animal paddocks in our lower fields, which will allow us to better accommodate individuals with physical impairments and wheelchair users. The team also helped by painting our raised planters in the horticulture area, where our new adult group will soon be growing vegetables. We’d like to say a heartfelt thank you to the Port of Dover team—and to all of you—for supporting our campaign. As we approach the end of the project, we still need to reach more people. Friends of Frampton Farm CIC (FOFF) is a 26 acre working farm situated between Dover and Folkestone in Kent. Rearing livestock and growing organic fruit and vegetables.

Sharing our farm with those who may benefit

FOFF was established in 2023 to provide a safe, inclusive, positive hands on, therapeutic learning environment for children and adults, particularly those who are experiencing high levels of adversity.

Over 1200 school aged children and teenagers have attended the farm in 2024 to date, there is a high demand for adults to attend the farm and benefit in the same way the children do. So we are now looking to improve our facilities and recruit more specialist staff to run sessions specifically for adults with additional needs.

All service users spending time on the farm learn how to care for the animals, giving them a purpose and repsonsibility. They come together to run our community farm.

Care farming for mental health and well being

Care farming also known as green care or social farming is the therapeutic use of farming practices. Providing a supervised structured service for social care, rehabilitation or education.

It is a mix of structured nature programmes for people with a defined need to benefit, health, social care of education outcomes.

Care farming is unique, our service users are able to make a meaningful contribution to the day to day running of our farm, through animal care and horticulture.

How care farming helps

Being outside in nature can improve mental and physical health. Reducing anxiety and depression, lowering blood pressure and stress hormones, improving your mood. Nature makes you happy and decreases negative emotions.

Becoming part of our farm community gives everyone a responsibility to care for animals, learn how to grow health food, increase social skills, and grow their confidence and self esteem.
