The idea

The netball playing surface at the Three Hills Sports Park (Home of Folkestone Netball League) has deteriorated significantly and without work will soon become unfit for use.
The deterioration is now worse than originally perceived and requires a major renovation.
Moving Netball Forward aims to resurface both netball courts with a quality long term solution.
As a result of this programme we will be in a position to sustain the huge amount of interest and current participation levels but more importantly provide an opportunity to many more players of all ages including a state of the art offer to all schools based within Folkestone & Hythe and surrounding districts.
The courts will be available 7 days a week and will play a major role within the development of Folkestone Netball League.

What we'll deliver

  • Replace ashalt layer on 2 Courts to depth of 25mm
  • Repaint play lines

Why it's a great idea

Delivery of a new, quality and safe netball playing surface at the Three Hills Sports Park will:
1) Provide a safe and accessible environment for playing netball in
Folkestone.
2) Attract new people of all abilities and ages to the sport.
3) Enable expansion of the sport into areas such as walking netball
and youth netball.
4) Enable expansion of the Folkestone Netball League.
5) Allow all year-round access to netball
6) Provide a long-term solution to the courts and enable all the above
listed benefits.
7) Provides shared access for school sport delivery and also
provision for the Government backed Holidays and Food
Programme (HAF)

Steps to get it done

  • 1. Treat and prepare current surface for resurface. Apply bitumen coat, lay 6mm asphalt surface and reset post sockets.
  • 2. Colour spray entire two court surfaces (if crowdfunding exceeds target)
  • 3. Complete and mark out court playing lines
  • 4. Purchase and fit new posts, nets etc

We will have accessible sessions and a facility able to accommodate the needs of all ages and abilities.
By working in partnerships with organisations within the community we will have specific sessions that meet the needs of residents including sessions for older residents, residents from households of low income and women and girl only sessions
