The idea
The objective is survival through the winter and if all goes well, to apply for permission and grant funding for redevelopment of the clubhouse. The latter is in a poor state of repair, the changing rooms do not meet Sport England and ECB specifications and the clubroom is far too small for two teams to comfortably take match teas (which we hope will eventually be allowed when Covid comes under control).
We will need to develop funds ourselves that will see us through the Covid situation and provide the foundation for the club's contribution to the project.
Club costs can be significant and unexpected. For example, recently the glass washer developed a major faulty that is not economic to repair, leaving us with only the option to replace it, at a cost of over £900. This makes it difficult to raise and keep funds for the clubhouse project.
If you are able, please contribute - even the smallest donations will make a difference. When we reach £100, the ECB will provide another £100!
What we'll deliver
- Provide a financial cushion for the club
- Improve the funds required to supplement grant contributions
Why it's a great idea
The clubhouse project will provide much improved facilities for our members. Changing rooms will be significantly enlarged, with improved shower and toilet facilities.
The building's very poor thermal insulation will be dramatically improved, improving member comfort and reducing our utility bills.
The clubroom will be enlarged by enclosing the existing balcony, but with retractable windows to maintain the view of the ground for matchdays.
Disabled access and toilets will be provided, as will a female changing room.
Much-needed storage space will be built in, to serve the bar and kitchen.
A room will enable the committee to hold meetings without the distraction from the bar.
Steps to get it done
- Secure grant funding, Sport England and ECB, raise any shortfall
