The idea
The Faversham Nautical Festival will take place on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th July 2019, located by the Creek on the Town Quay and Front Brents. This is a non-profiting making event run by local volunteers for the benefit of the community. A variety of boats, including barges and tugs will be moored alongside the Quay for the weekend and will be available for visitors to board. These boat owners and skippers do not receive any fee from the Festival organisers. Stalls selling food and wares will be organised by the Brents Community Association and any funds raised will go towards their projects. Other grant money received will pay for the boring necessities such as first aid, portaloos, licences etc. However, what makes this Festival even better is the fantastic musicians. This year there will be a stage on both sides of the Creek, with more music planned for the Brents side than in previous years. We will also need to purchase more mics and hire a mixing desk.
What we'll deliver
- Bring the community together with an event that is accessible to all ages and backgrounds
- Raise awareness of the social and economic benefit of the Creek
- Introduce people to new music by showcasing a variety of genres
- Provide performance opportunities for local bands
Why it's a great idea
Faversham people love a festival, but do they love their Creek more? This fabulous Nautical Festival proudly supports the social and economic benefits of the Creek and will raise awareness of the importance of the Creek to a wider audience.
