Partnering with Glascote Academy, GirlGuiding Staffordshire aims to enhance the School and Community Farm for education and local engagement.
GirlGuiding Staffordshire’s Service Team is collaborating with Glascote Academy to revitalise the School and Community Farm over three days. The project focuses on improving and redesigning key areas of the farm and adjacent forest to create a safer, more stimulating environment for children and adults. This enhanced space will provide opportunities for participants to engage with farm animals, learn about animal care, develop teamwork skills, understand environmental considerations, and support diverse needs. The farm serves as an inclusive haven for educational and community involvement, and this project aims to ensure its continued enrichment and safety.

VolunteerGirlguiding Staffordshire has over 6,000 members from aged 4 upwards. Thanks to the dedication and support of our amazing volunteers, we are active in nearly every town and village in the county, giving girls and young women a space where they can be themselves, have fun, build brilliant friendships, gain valuable life skills and make a positive difference to their lives and their communities. We build girls’ confidence and raise their aspirations. We give them the chance to discover their full potential and encourage them to be a powerful force for good. We give them a space to have fun. We run Rainbows (4 – 7 years), Brownies (7 – 10 years), Guides (10 – 14 years) and Rangers (14 – 18 years).
For our project we have partnered with Glascote Academy School and Community Farm and Forest.
Glascote Academy School’s Community Farm and Forest provide a unique outdoor learning environment where children can connect with nature every day during term time. Through hands-on experiences caring for animals and exploring the forest area, pupils develop practical skills, confidence, curiosity, and meaningful links to the curriculum in a real-world setting.
The farm and forest also welcome a wide range of community groups, including adults with additional needs and local church groups, offering enriching opportunities for close encounters with animals and peaceful exploration of the woodland environment.
As a self-sufficient project, the farm and forest rely heavily on fundraising and community support to continue providing these valuable educational and therapeutic experiences for both the school and the wider community.
