More about our impact
The environment
Our project respected the environment when ever possible, from encouraging attendees to use public transport when they arrive and leave, to recycling throughout the day, to our stage sound system being completely powered by stored solar energy!!
The local economy
Community benefit within the local economy rose as small local businesses, from willow weavers to balloon twisters to the local farm cafe, gain from the increased custom and publicity
Volunteering, jobs & education
In hosting a family friendly festival we created an exciting, engaging and inclusive environment that motivates people to contribute their time and energy. Volunteers benefited from training and work experience, increasing their skills and employability. Our festival also provided an excellent opportunity to incorporate educational elements and promote learning in a fun and engaging way, such as arts and crafts, stimulative learning for the very small, eco friendly make and play areas, and health and wellness.
Arts, culture & heritage
415 residents from low-income families attended the festival for free, making the arts and cultural elements of this experience accessible to a wider audience Children and families experienced music, live performance and arts and crafts, increasing cultural and social capital; perhaps inspiring them and igniting a future career path. Being both family friendly and community focussed, we created a platform for artists and audiences of all ages and backgrounds, fostering creativity and cultural exchange.
Activity, health and leisure
In making our festival vibrant and dynamic with diverse activities, interactive workshops, games, relaxation zones and community involvement, we promoted a wide variety of leisure activities. Dancing together, laughing and having fun, has the immediate impact of happiness and wellbeing, feeding into the longer term improvements in health and quality of life. For the younger dancers, the introduction of confetti, vertical foggers, parachutes and giant bouncy balls made the dance-floor irresistible. Craft areas offered more creative leisure activities and the wellbeing hideaway offered pampering and relaxation. Older children enjoyed giant garden games, retro video games and had the chance to lounge and kick back with friends in hammocks and beanbags. 415 residents from low-income families attended the festival for free, making the activity and leisure elements of this experience accessible to a wider audience.
