I am Gosha Gibek, a community artist based in Ribble Valley, working across Lancashire to help people reconnect with creativity. My practice is rooted in a simple belief: everyone can be creative. Many adults feel they are “not artistic”, yet with the right guidance and encouragement they often surprise themselves.
Through structured but welcoming workshops, I help participants explore drawing, colour and mixed media in a way that feels accessible and enjoyable. My sessions are not about perfection or technical skill. They are about curiosity, confidence and rediscovering the pleasure of making something with your own hands.
In an era where much of our time is spent consuming rather than creating, I am passionate about promoting active creativity. Making art, even in a simple way, builds confidence, reduces stress and encourages deeper engagement with the world around us. Participants frequently describe feeling relaxed, inspired and proud of what they have achieved.
Alongside my studio practice, I regularly deliver community art projects and workshops in partnership with cultural organisations, schools and local groups. These have included collaborative murals, heritage based projects and structured creative sessions designed for beginners and mixed ability groups. I plan and deliver workshops professionally, managing preparation, materials and participant communication to ensure sessions run smoothly and safely.
Marks of the Castle brings together my experience in community art and my passion for encouraging people to be creative. By transforming a museum visit into an interactive creative journey, I aim to help participants look more closely, engage more deeply with local heritage, and leave not only with a finished artwork, but with renewed confidence in their own creativity.
Through this project, I hope to create a welcoming space where people can have fun, experiment and discover that creativity belongs to them.
