The environment
Promoting movement and encouraging physical activity - so people are healthier
The local economy
We rented the venue from a local church and have supported local business by bringing more people into the town centre during the weekend
Volunteering, jobs & education
Our goal was to build up a network of dance leaders and dance artists in Lancaster and surrounding areas so we can develop a sustainable and resilient model for inclusive dance. Our original intention was to invite potential dance leaders to a training session in Preston. However, feedback from group members identified challenges with travel and also timings of the training. We have kept the £500 for training in reserves and are looking to partner with other organisations so we can offer this training in a venue closer to Lancaster. We now have a local dance artist and a local young person who is volunteering in the class. We are exploring options to run dance sessions on other days during the week.
Arts, culture & heritage
We have made inclusive dance more visible in Lancaster. We have performed over summer at a school fete. We are also planning a performance at the Spring festival with more music and the Kite festival in autumn. This is supporting growth of the dance sector and inclusive representation in arts and culture.
