People make places great. We all have a stake in the towns, villages and communities of Kirklees.
In these challenging times we want to improve the wellbeing of all our beneficiaries with the provision of equipment and activities ranging from tree climbing, zip-lining and sleeping under the stars.
Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.
While our activity is constrained at the moment we're planning for the future. During these challenging times we are all experiencing a situation that can adversely affect our mental and physical well-being. For some of our beneficiaries this 'headspace' was already a factor in their lives and for others, such as the children who join us with our holiday clubs and school visits, we are all recognising that open space and freedom is a very necessary and important part of the human condition. Your generous pledge will allow us to buy equipment to support our award winning Social Enterprise in delivering its mission: to improve the mental and physical well-being of children, young people and adults. We will buy appropriate climbing equipment to scale the big trees of our ancient woodland site; a zip-wire to fly through the air; hammocks, sleeping bags and tarps to experience the night time feel of the forest and professional training and equipment to do all this in absolute safety.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
This project will provide challenge and, very importantly, fun to all individuals and groups that come to our woodland searching for something. Whether it's 'just' a good day out; to improve their confidence and esteem; to engage with others (don't we all look forward to that!!) or to help with their headspace. The equipment and training will provide residents and beneficiaries throughout Kirklees an opportunity to experience the great outdoors. Whether visiting our site or at their own venue we strive to provide exciting times and positive, happy and thrilling memories to draw upon. As an award winning Social Enterprise we use any profits made within our trading activities in supporting our social purpose - we're a 'profit-with-purpose' company, we serve our communities and one of our core values is 'local'.
Steps to get it done:
More than ever groups such as ours within the Third Sector will be called upon to deliver services to help support individuals affected by the Covid19 pandemic. After the dust settles we will be there to support our communities in improving their wellbeing and getting back to some semblance of normality ... and having fun, laughing, experiencing adrenaline charged challenge and learning new skills will be an important antidote to our weeks of self confinement.
