Our Mission
We inspire people of all ages about organic gardening. By nurturing plants, we nurture ourselves and our communities. We aim to give you the tools to create sustainable gardens and appreciate nature.
BAME BCOP
As a community group, we're not fully comfortable with labels like BAME/BPOC, though our leadership identifies as such. Our group welcomes everyone, finding that nature naturally builds connections without competition - just mutual growth. We understand these labels help organisations identify community needs, so we'll share a fuller statement soon.
Our Story
It began in 2018 when a local gardener gave plants and calendula seeds to a novice team member. This sparked a journey discovering plants' benefits. As interest grew from friends and neighbours, we realised many adults had lost connection with growing food. This led to creating the Natural Gardeners Club to teach children gardening skills early.
Starting in back gardens, demand soon outgrew our space. In 2023 we secured a community allotment, though contaminated soil posed challenges. By 2025, with local support, we're restoring the land. Our proudest moments? Hearing children recite plant names or harvest their own crops.
