Pop-up library for Dundalk

I'd like to create a pop-up library for my community so members of the public can share books. This will reduce waste, give people access to free books and help people feel more connected.

Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.

The idea

Due to covid people are spending more time reading in their homes. Creating a mini pop-up library where members of the public can safely share books they have read is a great way for people to still feel connected to their community at this time.

A local shop on the high street has allowed us to mount the pop-up library on their property. The shop is also beside the square meaning people can hopefully read on their lunch break.

This is an initial trail for 3 months, after which we might look to creating a bib more permanent library-of-things where the community can share a greater variety of things and equipment.

What we'll deliver

  • A mini weather protected library

Why it's a great idea

This mini library will help reduce waste, save people money, encourage people to read and also create a greater sense of community.

Steps to get it done

  • Raise the funding
  • Install the pop-up by December
  • December to February - let the public know and encourage the swapping of books
