The Dukes is looking to bring the BEST IN CINEMA to communities ACROSS LANCASHIRE with our NEW TOURING CINEMA. Visiting community spaces across Lancashire bringing film screenings directly to you!
Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.
Our project will see the Dukes cinema offer go on tour across Lancashire with screenings in community spaces of the best in cinema. With our new LED screen, sound equipment and programme the Dukes will host screenings for communities to enjoy in partnership with community spaces in the county.

Why it's a great idea:
Our screenings will provide access to high quality cinema is places that don't current have a cinema offer or where the distance to existing provision is long. Our screenings will be in accessible community spaces meaning access to all to great film no matter where you are based.
Steps to get it done:
We will work with communities locally to programme for them a range of film titles that meet the needs and desires of the area. We will use our skills, knowledge, connections and existing relationships with film distributors to explore new titles and classics.

VolunteerThe Dukes is Lancashire's only producing theatre and independent cinema. The Dukes host a high quality programme of live performance and cinema year round welcoming over 70,000 people each year and create Lancaster's famous Play in the Park each summer at Williamson Park. The Dukes is home to two film festivals Dark Dukes our Halloween film extravaganza and Green Screen looking at the Climate Change emergency through film. Alongside our programme we across run an extensive community engagement programme working with 10,000 people a year to explore their own creativity and professional development. We support artists with talent development programmes across theatre and film and work with local businesses and festivals to make sure cutlure is the beating heart of Lancashire. We are a Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation and have been open for 52 years. The Dukes is continually rated outstanding and we work to present new film and theatre both at our base in Lancaster and across the county.
