We are a volunteer-led Scout group based in Donnycarney, proudly serving over 100 young people and adult volunteers from the local area. For many years, we have provided a safe, inclusive and supportive space where young people can learn new skills, build confidence, develop leadership abilities, and form lasting friendships. Our programme focuses on teamwork, outdoor adventure, community service, and personal development, helping young people grow into active and responsible members of society.
We operate in an area that experiences social and economic disadvantage, and we are committed to ensuring that Scouting remains accessible and affordable for all families. Our leaders give their time voluntarily, and we work hard to create opportunities that might not otherwise be available to many young people in the community.
Our Scout den is more than just a meeting space. It is a shared community facility that is also used by local groups, including a parent and infant café, a drama group, and a kendo club. We maintain strong links with neighbouring organisations, the local community centre, and other Scout groups in our province.
Through this campaign, we want to improve our outdoor space and create something lasting for both our members and the wider Donnycarney community — a place where young people can connect with nature, learn about sustainability, and where neighbours can come together in a welcoming green environment.
