Doncaster Pride is a registered Charity and exists to support the LGBTQ+ community of Doncaster.
We are active year round with direct support to the community as well as fundraining activity and planning for the main Pride event in August.
We have a board of 10 volunteer dirtectors who all fulfill roles to support the year round effort and collectively we have representation on a number of local, regional and national boards and groups all for the support of the LGBTQ+ community.
Our aim is to educate and grow diversity here in Doncaster and represent and support the community. W have connections with Youth and Trans groups and develop programmes year round to engage the community.
Our annual event has grown since its establishment in 2007 and is now one of the largest Pride events in Yorkshire. the event remains free to attend and promotes equality, diversity and inclusion for all minorities and the wider community so we can all come together to celebrate our similarities and not our differences.
The event is funded largely by business sponsorshipand has grown in numbers from 1500 in year 1 to around 20,000 day visitors in 2019. The event features a mainstage, a market and info zone as well as food and drink vendors all set out in a friendly and colourfull space. We have a parade through the town prior to the event and this numbers some 6,000 people.
Pride is a celebration, but it will also be a very peaceful protest for equality, until we are all equal no matter sexuality, gender, age, colour, ethnicity or religion then none of us are truly equal.
Doncaster Pride is a registered charity and has been for a number of years, our board are all volunteers.
