There is an area of the playing field which isn’t really used and fencing this off for dogs to play in will help dogs run and socialise safely and keeping them off football pitches and children’s play areas. Dog owners will be able to sit and chat knowing their dogs can have a run around together and the play equipment will stimulate dogs and improve their relationships with their owners. The Covid lockdowns saw many more people choose dogs for company and this area will strengthen the new friendships both owners and dogs have formed. There will also be dog training classes, dog agility and dog shows and will not reduce or impact any other activities on the field. There will be poo bag dispensers, poo bins and benches for people to sit on. Also a sandpit and other environmentally friendly ideas to add to the interest on the paddock

What we'll deliver:

  • Secure fencing and gates
  • Poo bag dispensers and bins
  • Benches and play equipment

Why it's a great idea:

Tydd St Mary is a rural village and there are many people who have little access to transport to other enclosed dog areas. We have been approached by many people to provide and area away from other activities on the field which will give all dogs the opportunity for a good safe run at no cost to the owners. This will help deprived families as well as those whose dogs open the door to creating and building on relationships with other dog owners. Once open there will be low maintenance costs, just ensuring the area remains clean and tidy. There will be a dog show at the village fete and dog agility and obedience training classes through the year.

Steps to get it done:

  • Fencing the area involved
