By Dog Kennel Hill Adventure Playground
Help us build a fantastic new building for our Adventure Playground. Your pledges will enable us to complete the planning process. Permission depending, we'll then run another campaign for the build!
We believe in the importance of play in children's lives and have had generations of families come to our adventure playground, making happy memories. A new, fully accessible building for Dog Kennel Hill Adventure Playground will extend what we already have to offer, by connecting our outside space with a modern, highly sustainable new indoor one; somewhere children and young people can call their own, where they can play, learn & socialise, whatever the weather. We want to enable more children and young people to benefit from our playground; connecting with their outside space, learning through play, arts and crafts, drama, music workshops, cooking & indoor sport. A new building will ensure that we can continue to provide the high quality of service that already exists and reach out to even more children & young people with disabilities, families, schools, youth groups, pupil referral units and the wider community.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
We need to find more ways to encourage children and young people to leave the comfort of their phones and tablets and escape to a place where they can play freely and safely. Research shows how important play is. It brings positive long-term effects to children and young people on many levels: physically; emotionally; and mentally. Our playground has been at the centre of the community for over 40 years, but our current building, with its tin roof and poor plumbing, is now past its sell-by-date. Many children and young people in the area have grown up playing amongst our trees, on our zip line and our climbing frames. We want to keep this tradition going, and make sure that future generations of children and young people can continue to enjoy the adventure!
Steps to get it done:
Local developers Lightbox London have created a fantastic design that will fit beautifully into our wooded surroundings. With the funding we can then apply for planning permission from the London Borough of Southwark. Please join us at the Dog Kennel Hill Adventure Playground to learn more and get involved in the campaign: 1. Campaign Launch Fun Day Friday 14 October from 3.30pm 2. Bonfire Night Celebrations Friday, 4 November from 3.30pm 3. Christmas Fair Saturday 26th November from 12pm-6pm Funds from this campaign will go toward the planning application process, as well as outreach to the community to make more people aware of and get involved in involved in our playground. Some of the costs identified are estimates and if we are able to negotiate lower prices, we would allocate any surplus towards the building project, if planning permission is received — or towards our operating costs if not. Thanks for helping us make this vision a reality!

Brilliant news, thanks everyone!
Dear All Sorry if you just received a garbled message! Many thanks to those of you who have pledged in the past two weeks. Your pledges, together with the £750 raised at our Cherry Tree Fundraiser and £850 at our Christmas Fair last weekend mean that we only need to get another £180 of pledges before we reach our target. We absolutely couldn't have got this far without your fabulous support! Just to let you know, we are still selling raffle tickets with some super prizes donated by local makers and businesses, so pop in if you're passing. We'll be drawing the raffle on Monday 12th December and announcing the winners soon after. Now to the home straight! Warm wishes DKHAP
