Our vision and goal is to have a safe outdoor space for all to use where they can enjoy the outdoors, regardless of the weather. The space will include a sheltered outbuilding, seating area with few benches, a growing garden area, different wall activities such as netball nets/posts, climbing walls, colourful markings on the new tarmac floor. We will also be adding a new fence with safety locks to keep young ones and our premises safe! We have also included wheelchair access as currently there is no disabled access at the premises. We would like our users to be able to use the facility free of use to enhance the quality of health and well being. We have incorporated a garden area with the vulnerable and elderly in mind who are less active and want to engage in a light and productive activity. This ensures well being is maintained while preserving their self esteem and building their confidence.

What we'll deliver:

  • A new outdoor shelter with seating
  • Replace the pavings with tarmac
  • Game panels and basket ball post
  • A garden corner
  • Wheelchair access
  • a safety gate

Why it's a great idea:

It will encourage more people to use our services and provide a safe space for their children to play outside. Furthermore it will encourage them to be more active as the area will be bright with many different types of activities and surroundings for them to enjoy. It will also encourage our guests to share their experiences with others which will help and support our organisation and our aims of providing them with educational and job opportunities. Our project will also promote activeness and improve quality of life for all users as the out door will encourage them to be out!

Steps to get it done:

  • Removing the existing pavings, and getting it tarmaced and adding the disabled access..
  • Putting the shelter in with seats and equipment.
  • adding the garden area, getting plants and adding them.
  • get floor markings and adding the netball posts safely in the ground.
  • safety gates to keep area secure for all users and preventing break ins
  • finally using the safe and pleasant space and encouraging others to join!

I feel by providing the community with recreational parks, premises and opportunities, it not only helps the environment but also encourages more opportunities for users to benefit and prevents anti social behaviour. If the youth are engaged actively in a safe environment they are less likely to cause trouble etc. For example if an area has two goals, its likely it will be used as goals. otherwise the ares are misused, gratified etc. Similarly if our premises are providing the community with a free ,safe and a fun space, they are most likely willing to spend more time there, socialising, being productive, promoting good behaviour and improving their health and well being.
