Developing and engaging youth via sport

We need to purchase equipment for planned recreational and sport play areas for young children to develop broader athletic and motor skills; keeping children active and supporting healthy lifestyles.

The idea

As a multi sports club in Dublin, we provide the local community, schools and our members with a range of sports facilities. We are seeking to make best use of the space available to us to provide the facilities necessary to support the increasing local population and also to keep children and younger adults active and engaged with sport.

Providing individuals with a variety of recreational and sports facilities will help address the drop off in participation in sport by children as they age and also to develop in younger children a broader set of athletic ability.

We have a small area of underutilised space on the club's current grounds. We plan to install a number of mini training and recreational areas, specifically to engage individuals using designs which focus on developing a range of athletic skills.

We will need various equipment for those areas to maximise their benefit on youth participants.

What we'll deliver

  • Equipment for mini training and recreational areas
  • Provide additional sports coaching and youth development
  • Bring additional sporting facilities to local schools and community groups

Why it's a great idea

The additional training and recreational areas will enable us to coach and develop more children and young adults per hour than we can with the existing footprint. This will support a healthier overall population, with a particular focus on younger individuals.

By having different training zones in an area alongside one another, we will be able to rotate younger children through different skills zones which will provide them with a varied sports/recreational experience and build engagement and enthusiasm with sporting activities.

The population in the local area is anticipated to grow substantially in the next three years. This will include an increase in families and children seeking sports and recreational facilities in the local area. It is important that we invest now to be able to deliver the modern facilities which such children and families will require.

We are a family orientated club with an open membership policy which has been in the community for over 100 years.
