The idea

Dear Friends of the Cavan Centre,
Damage from Storm Éowyn has severely impacted our service delivery and key facilities, including the Zip Line, Low Ropes Course, Nature Walkway / Enchanted Forest and Campfire area. While immediate safety measures have been taken, extensive work remains to restore full operations and ensure our Centre can continue to provide safe, engaging, and meaningful experiences for the young people and families who rely on our services.

Why it's a great idea

Approximately, 3,000 people avail of the services of the Cavan Centre per year.
While we are actively seeking funding to fully restore our services, time is of the essence as we strive to have all of the Centre’s activities operational before our busy Summer Programme. It's crucial that we provide the young people with the residential experience they deserve. The immediate removal of the damaged trees is essential to making this possible.

The Cavan Centre C.L.G is a north inner city of Dublin project. It is a registered charity and works with children, young people,
adults and families from marginalised and disadvantaged areas, primarily from the north inner city of Dublin and
surrounding Dublin areas.
The Cavan Centre engages with service users through a process of outdoor education and experiential learning, in a
residential setting.
The Centre works with approx 3,000 per annum people on the Empowering Communities Programme through weekend,
weeklong,
midweek, respite residential stays and day trips to the Centre.
Since 1977, 127,000 people have engaged in the services of the Centre.
The Cavan Centre also provides training courses to young people and adults working with young people.
The Cavan Centre offers young people a safe place where they are supported and empowered to make positive choices and
memories that will impact their lives back in their communities.

Young people experiencing marginalisation whose specific circumstances limit their opportunities including, but not limited
to experiencing issues relating to their general wellbeing, from the LGBTQI+ community, young migrants, young carers,
issues affecting the target group include but not limited to additional support needs, isolation, low self-esteem/confidence.
Young people who are vulnerable or at risk of not flourishing including, but not limited to – young people affected by or
involved in substance abuse, young people experiencing homelessness. Key issues affecting the target group include but are
not limited to young people who are witnessing, affected by and or involved in drug culture and or gang related crime,
young people living in a range of temporary accommodation i.e. hotels, hostels, and family hubs. Young people living in
homeless accommodation who do not have space in which to socialise, complete homework or study for exams, early
school leaving and non-engagement with other services.

Project Owner: The Cavan Centre CLG The Project Owner takes legal responsibility for receiving and spending the funds raised and ensuring the project is delivered.
